December 17, 2021

Dear Wilson Avenue Community,

I am saddened to announce the loss of a valued member of the Wilson Avenue staff team.  Annette Hamp passed away as a result of cancer on December 16, 2021.

Mrs. Hamp was with the WRDSB for 22 years. She was a dedicated, energetic and compassionate MLL (ESL) teacher and was in her fourth year of teaching at Wilson Avenue.  Mrs. Hamp taught at a number of other schools in the WRDSB, most recently MacGregor Senior Public School and Stanley Park Senior Public School prior to coming to Wilson.

This news has not been shared with students as Mrs. Hamp has been off on sick leave since October of this year.  If you choose to share this information with your child they may have questions or may express feelings about death.  Children respond positively to direct and honest answers about loss and they benefit from the opportunity to express their feelings.  If you choose to share this information with your child and they need support with processing this news, you can contact any of the numbers below to access community counselling support.

On behalf of the Wilson Public School Community we express our deepest sympathy to the Hamp family.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth Martz
